This song was written by composer Frank Ticheli along with his piece "American Elegy," a powerfully moving concert band score dedicated to the victims of the 1999 Columbine High School incident and their families. Ticheli asked the school for a copy of their alma mater so that he could quote it in his composition, and when they replied that they had none, he wrote one for them.
This version was arranged as an intro to The Sturgeons' "Assembly" during a disturbing spike in American school violence.
lyrics
Mountains rising to the sun
Tow'ring o'er the plains
Heads held high we stand as one
And proudly we proclaim
We are Columbine
We all are Columbine
Let the world be told
Blue and silver we uphold
Forever
