THAT / LIGHT 01:01
Hell is what happens when we forget THAT We don't know why we're here THAT We don't know when it's gonna end THAT We don't know when it begins So please remember THAT We're here to teach each other how to love THAT We're only here for the day THAT You know Hell is what happens when we forget THAT There's so many of us out here In darkness Breathing light Light It's everyone who's ever been and will ever be You don't have to breathe what they tell you to breathe

Mountains rising to the sun Tow'ring o'er the plains Heads held high we stand as one And proudly we proclaim We are Columbine We all are Columbine Let the world be told Blue and silver we uphold Forever
3.
ASSEMBLY 03:04
We teach to a test with no use in the human world Raising an army of robots without thought of their own A blind generation of tools and cowards Leading themselves off a fucking cliff Wanna be a winner? Here's the rules to the game: Accept our story, fall in line, and behave At a desk all day in a plastic chair Give up your will to live and beg to serve It's a playbook of killjoy bullshit Uniforms and censorship, gaslighting dissidents Walk proud down the assembly line Just don't call it what it is A fucking mess You can't express your own rage The words we make you speak keep you caged Behind those bars there's only room for one You don't even have each other We dull the mind and mute the heart You don't know yourself so we'll tell you who you are Forget shop, home ec and marching band All you need's a gun in your hand It's a playbook of killjoy bullshit Uniforms and censorship, gaslighting dissidents Walk proud down the assembly line Just don't call it what it is A fucking mess
4.
END / DO IT 01:58
Mark my face It's not gonna last Same game, different name Catatonia End There comes a time For every puppet To make their own dance To walk their own path Catatonia End You say you give a fuck I see no action Can't hang it all on luck There's no satisfaction Don't say shit Do it You've got your diatribe Locked and cocked But never arrive At an early conclusion Don't say shit Do it This world is yours to change Your adventures you create Take control, rearrange Don't say shit Do it Make it real
5.
CALL DEATH 03:41
The aim of the game Is to achieve peace and lasting happiness Play it well and each day is easier than the one before Play it poorly and you become yourself a black hole A gate to hell Recognize your impermanence Call Death Before Death calls you Christ forgives you Forgive yourself Don't waste this time It's almost up Call Death Before Death calls you Embrace your fear Like a mother It will embrace you In return Call Death Before Death calls you All are born in it All die in it Few live in truth Call Death Call Death
6.
Nobody knows what they're doing Follow your heart and fuck the rest If you think too much you're gonna wake up in shit Figure it out Nobody likes being told what to do So shut your mouth and be yourself You might keep a friend or two Figure it out Are you listening? Understand this Walk the Earth like it belongs to all of us It's a simple game with simple rules You don't hurt me and I won't hurt you Figure it out
7.
Hatred by any other name is the same No one has to teach you this Everything you need is in your mind Purge what was force fed and make space for truth Beware those who seek control They fear death so much they never live In truth Chaos breeds Won't be long the kind will rule it all Churches of hatred and judgement Are doomed to fall Break free from the role you're assigned Let us each become someone worth following And we'll arrive together In truth Chaos breeds ______

Maybe you could teach a kid How to throw a punch So when they're hungry they can fuck someone up And steal their lunch Maybe you could teach a kid How to make a friend Then they wouldn't have to throw a punch In the first place Maybe you could teach a kid How to build a wall And pretend their neighbors don't exist Once and for all Maybe you could teach a kid How to make a friend Then they wouldn't need to build a wall In the first place Oh yeah Maybe you could Maybe you could teach a kid How to build a bomb And blow up all the people They thought were thinking wrong Maybe you could teach a kid How to make a friend Then they wouldn't need to build a bomb In the first place Oh yeah Maybe you could

Sorry Didn't mean to shit on your fuckin' parade I guess a sonofabitch like me Shouldn't play with a hand grenade Did you feel the explosion? It's what we've all been praying for Please believe we can still make good They'll foam at the mouth You'll see their eyes bleed When they think you're trying to take All the things that they think they need But if you're loud enough All that thinking stops And they can finally hear their heart again That's why we do this shit Don't worry You know it's never too late to change the game Dream up a way out your nightmare and reset the stage Did you feel the explosion? It's what we've all been dying for Please believe we can still make good They'll foam at the mouth You'll see their eyes bleed When they think you're trying to take All the things that they think they need But if you're loud enough All that thinking stops And they can finally hear their heart again

about

A teacher, a hospice nurse, and a funeral director walk into a garage studio...

Sounds like the start of a joke, but the result is some rage-fueled punk metal full of wisdom that is hard-earned and worth heeding. This album is built to make you think, mosh, love, and break shit all at the same time.

Lyrics born of personal philosophy reassure the listener that while this world is a mess, we're gonna get through it together. Laid over a foundation of pure-as-sin rock and roll are themes like recognition of mortality, fearless critical thought, practicing more than preaching, and embodying neighborliness.

The Sturgeons' take on Frank Ticheli's Columbine High School Alma Mater is at once a stand out departure and key evidence that seems to ask, "This is so fucked up, can we still make it beautiful?"

By the time the album is over, you'll know the answer for yourself.
