"Assembly" is the darkly satirical manifesto of an imaginary tyrant who is intentionally designing school curriculum to steer students towards their own undoing.
The outro is a quote of the Columbine High School Alma Mater.
lyrics
We teach to a test with no use in the human world
Raising an army of robots without thought of their own
A blind generation of tools and cowards
Leading themselves off a fucking cliff
Wanna be a winner? Here's the rules to the game:
Accept our story, fall in line, and behave
At a desk all day in a plastic chair
Give up your will to live and beg to serve
It's a playbook of killjoy bullshit
Uniforms and censorship, gaslighting dissidents
Walk proud down the assembly line
Just don't call it what it is
A fucking mess
You can't express your own rage
The words we make you speak keep you caged
Behind those bars there's only room for one
You don't even have each other
We dull the mind and mute the heart
You don't know yourself so we'll tell you who you are
Forget shop, home ec and marching band
All you need's a gun in your hand
It's a playbook of killjoy bullshit
Uniforms and censorship, gaslighting dissidents
Walk proud down the assembly line
Just don't call it what it is
A fucking mess
